Individual products for this venture live here, once they are approved for
specification work — not before. A product idea should generally have
passed through the company-level intake process (see
portfolio/intake-and-stage-gates.md at the repository root) before it gets
a directory here.
Structure¶
Each product gets its own directory: products/[product-slug]/, scaffolded
from products/_template/ (see that directory's README.md for how the
template in this venture relates to the more detailed Digital Products
product template).
What belongs here vs. what doesn't¶
- Belongs here: product-level specification, requirements, feature inventory, acceptance criteria, test plan, roadmap, and decisions for a specific product within this venture.
- Does not belong here: venture-level strategy (see
../docs/strategy/) or company-level portfolio tracking (seeportfolio/at the repository root).
Registration¶
A product is not "official" simply by having a directory here. It should be
reflected in the company-level portfolio/product-registry.json only once
it is approved for specification work, per the intake and stage-gate
process.
