Marketplace Listing Standard

Listing claims must match tested/implemented capability

Any feature, capability, or compatibility claim in a marketplace listing (Etsy, Gumroad, or any other channel) must correspond to something actually built and tested in the product, as of the version being sold. Aspirational or planned features must not be described as present in the listing. If a claim can't be verified against the current product, it doesn't go in the listing.

Screenshots must reflect the actual product

Listing screenshots must be taken from the real, current version of the product, using synthetic example data (see ../ai/guardrails.md on not using real personal financial data). Screenshots must not be mocked up in a design tool to show a nicer or more feature-complete version than what ships. If the product changes in a way that makes existing screenshots inaccurate, the screenshots must be updated before or alongside the release.

Pricing and positioning claims require evidence or are labeled hypotheses

Any claim used to justify pricing or positioning (e.g., "saves you hours," "used by professionals," comparisons to the cost of alternatives) must either be backed by actual evidence or clearly avoided/softened. This venture does not fabricate testimonials, sales figures, or comparative claims. Where a positioning angle is untested, prefer describing what the product actually does over asserting an unverified benefit.

Respect platform rules

Listings must comply with the rules of whichever platform they're published on (e.g., Etsy's handmade/digital-download policies, Gumroad's content policies). Before a first listing on any given platform, the relevant platform's current seller policies should be reviewed rather than assumed from general knowledge, since platform rules change and vary by category.

Ownership

Marketplace listing content is drafted by the Commercialization Manager role (see ../ai/role-routing.md) but should be reviewed against the actual shipped product before publication.
