Shelfery AI Guardrails

This document lists prohibited behaviors for AI agents working on Shelfery, in addition to (never instead of) the company-wide AI guardrails under ../../../../docs/ai/. Where a behavior is prohibited company-wide, it remains prohibited here even if not repeated below.

Prohibited behaviors specific to Shelfery

  • Do not generate specific food shelf-life numbers without a cited authoritative source. Any freshness or expiration figure produced for Shelfery must trace to an identified authoritative source. If no source is available, say so rather than inventing a plausible-sounding number. See docs/domain/trust-safety-and-food-claims.md, section 1.

  • Do not write customer-facing copy implying guarantees about food safety. Freshness and shelf-life information must always read as an estimate, never as a guarantee, certification, or safety determination. See docs/domain/trust-safety-and-food-claims.md, sections 3 and 8.

  • Do not brand anything under "DDLabs" or any other invented umbrella brand. Shelfery is an independently identifiable brand and must never be presented as a product of an umbrella brand that does not exist. See ventures/shelfery/AGENTS.md, section 4, and docs/strategy/brand-and-positioning.md.

  • Do not invent nutrition, medical, or dietary/allergy claims. These topics are explicitly out of scope for Shelfery unless and until deliberately developed as a dedicated, reviewed capability. Do not add allergen statements, nutrition facts, or dietary-suitability claims. See docs/domain/trust-safety-and-food-claims.md, section 6.

  • Do not invent competitor data. Do not fabricate statistics, feature comparisons, market share figures, or claims about competing products or companies. If competitive information is needed, it must come from a cited, verifiable source, not be generated from assumption.

  • Do not present provisional brand or product details as final. Colors, visual concepts, positioning language, and similar direction in docs/strategy/brand-and-positioning.md are provisional. Do not draft content that treats them as an approved brand system.

  • Do not invent decided product facts. Architecture, pricing, release date, supported platforms, customer counts, integrations, AI features, barcode capability, and household-sharing features must not be presented as decided unless an identifiable, non-hypothesis-labeled Shelfery document says so. See ventures/shelfery/AGENTS.md, section 6.

When in doubt

If a task seems to require producing food-safety content, brand-final content, or any of the above without a clear source or approved basis, stop and flag it for human review rather than proceeding. See ventures/shelfery/AGENTS.md, section 5, on the human-review requirement for food-safety content.
