[Product Name] — Product Specification¶
This is the general, company-level product specification template — lighter than the detailed, workbook-specific template used by Digital Products for its own products. It should satisfy
../docs/standards/product-specification-standard.md. Ventures with more specialized needs (e.g. Digital Products) may use or extend a richer venture-specific template instead, as long as it remains at least as rigorous as this one.
1. Overview¶
[Summary of the product, linking back to product-brief.md.]
2. Users and use cases¶
[Who uses this, and the primary use cases it must support.]
3. Functional scope¶
[What the product does. Reference feature-inventory.md if a separate one
exists, or list features directly here for a smaller product.]
4. Non-functional requirements¶
[Performance, reliability, security/privacy, accessibility, compatibility — whatever applies. Do not assert compatibility or performance claims that haven't been tested; mark untested claims explicitly.]
5. Constraints and dependencies¶
[Technical, legal, or business constraints; dependencies on other products/components.]
6. Data¶
[Reference a data-dictionary-template.md-based document if the product has
non-trivial data entities.]
7. Calculations (if applicable)¶
[Reference a calculation-specification-template.md-based document for any
non-trivial calculation logic.]
8. Acceptance criteria¶
[Reference acceptance-criteria.md or embed directly if small.]
9. Open questions / risks¶
- [Item 1]
10. Review status¶
[Has this specification been through ../prompts/specification-review.md?
Record outcome and date here once it has.]
