Architecture Documentation Index

This directory describes the structural shape of the Devonshire Digital repository and the company/venture/product model it encodes. These are descriptive and explanatory documents, not policy in themselves — where a document here states a rule, it is restating or summarizing a decision recorded elsewhere (typically in docs/decisions/ or docs/governance/).

Documents

  • repository-architecture.md — what each top-level directory in this repository is for.
  • company-venture-product-model.md — the five-layer hierarchy from company governance down to product implementation, with Shelfery and Digital Products examples.
  • inheritance-model.md — a short summary of how the layers inherit and constrain each other, pointing to the canonical authority document.
  • artifact-lifecycle.md — how a documentation artifact moves from idea to draft to approved to deprecated, and where it lives in the repository at each stage.
  • registry-architecture.md — the machine-readable registries under portfolio/ and how they relate to Markdown documentation.
  • future-repository-strategy.md — the open question of whether this repository stays multi-purpose, becomes a monorepo, or splits further, and what might inform that decision later.
